Greek community were surprised by the discovery of a treasure in a garage in the city of Piraeus Greece. However, it is not a heritage treasure trove of famous philosophers such as Plato, but a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster 1960 output.
As reported by autoevolution, Monday, October 17, 2011, Mercedes-Benz sports car with a capacity of 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine is owned by racing enthusiast named Criton Dilaveris Greek, who bought it from second hand, several years after the vehicle was built.
Dilaveris died of age in 1972 without heirs so that all the property following the vehicle was moved to the city of Piraeus. Since the 1974 car is already saved several times when it will be sent to the destruction of the car.
Finally, the city government is taking prudent steps to auction off the vehicle with the opening price of 240,000 Euros.Highest bidder, comes from a German collector, Rajna Hildebrandt, who also has a Gullwing 300 SL Roadster soft-top version.
Hildebrandt was eager to have the car until finally he gave up 405 000 Euro to make up for it. This old Mercy was in the garage for 37 years.
